We make music, and that should be enjoyable. I have no disrespect for people who own and enjoy these products. Behringers are “settle synths.” I can’t have the real thing, don’t want a new thing, so I’ll settle for the knock off. There are small companies making beautiful digital stuff at similar price points, but we support behringer because it’s cheap analog, instead of supporting companies that are innovative, hardworking, and interesting. I’m sure a lot goes into this but not nearly us much as designing something from the ground up. Character parts, and most of the work is already done for them since they are just replicating. I get the “for the price point” argument, but let’s not forget why they are at this price point. It’s the primary thing holding me back since I hear about it more than any other company, and combined with the shamelessness, I’m really put off.
